WTF IS IT?
Bobbi Brown’s new shade of Pot Rouge – a coral-based, mid pink. I literally LOVE this product for many many reasons. Ones that I probably shouldn’t go into in both a beauty review and a charity beauty review at that. For International Women’s Day nonetheless. Fucking hell, I’m so going to get trolled…
WHAT DOES IT DO?
Well pot rouge is, as it’s moniker suggests, a little compact of cream colour which can be used anywhere on the face. Use it on your eyes as a cool monochrome shadow tint. It’s good for people who want that dewy gloss effect but aren’t into eye glosses. Whack it on the cheeks, and the lips too. It’s works everywhere – I have used their existing Pale Pink shade for ages. But love that this one is a little more intense!
There’s another, er, reason I love this stuff. If you want to look cute really, quickly – say post gym, when an unexpected guest arrives or, um, early morning (WINK WINK) then this is a godsend.
I need to say as a feminist that women are absolutely NOT obliged to wake up looking ‘perfect’ (however they choose to define it), especially just for the person they’re banging. But should you want to – and sometimes you might want to – I can tell you this is a pretty useful thing to keep in the bathroom for such times. Morning after beauty, basically. I feel like that might deserve its own post.
This is the fifth-year Bobbi brown has done The Pretty Powerful Campaign. And the full price (minus VAT) is being given to charity. Seriously, I know you’re probs a wee bit ‘meh’ about charity beauty buys (I know as a beauty editor we get told about them every day so they sort of lose their wow factor) but this guy steps up big time.
The full profit from each pot rouge sold goes to Smart Works, a UK charity that gives clothes, advice and interview training to out of work women on low incomes. Things can spiral very quickly if you lose your job and don’t have a safety net like so many of us do – and that’s where these guys step in, to get women back into work.
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE THEN?
It feels like resolute joy. It’s the EXACT consistency you want from a cream blush, because it’s pigmented but not so much that you look like a creepy doll (this is the usual hazard with cream blush prods) but it’s also nice and sheer, so it blends into your skin properly. I really like it on bare skin, or a dewy foundation, it’s so pretty.
HOW THE EFF DO I USE IT?
Fingers. In pot. Fingers on face. Simples.
WHY SHOULD I BUY IT?
Because it’s a really awesome product, a beautiful shade (that will suit a huge array of skin tones, including the majority of darker ones) and it gives money to charidee.
IF YOU HAD TO PICK BETWEEN THIS BLUSH AND A PUPPY WHAT WOULD YOU PICK?
Ok several issues here. What puppies are we talking about? I love dogs but I don’t love small ones or wiry haired ones. So if it’s a Schnauzer, I’ll take the blush. If it’s a Malamute, I’ll take the puppy then sucker punch you for the blush too. As Queen so rightly said: I want it all, and I want it right now.
